Another great day. Considering my previous adherence to Diets I am finishing up day 3 and feeling great. It is really helping as we are house sitting so have a different place to what I am used to living in. It allows me to get the change underway this week before I go home.
I am adhering to the steps well. I have just popped up the actual Diet I am on. So you can see the basic Steps that I have to Follow. You can read about the Slow Carb Diet here.
Now back on to what I wanted to talk about. My Harajuku Moment.
I spoke a bit about it yesterday about how you can shall we say invent a Harajuku Moment(Turning Point) in your mind. How this thought even came about was from reading the book Psycho Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz. It talks about the power of the mind and it being a Missile to Goals that are set.
It also talks about how visualization works and Emotional Triggers.
So putting this all together is the next logical step.
So how to go about creating this Harajuku Moment as Tim Ferris’ coined it is:
1. Come up with an emotional situation where you lose something( as Loss is a greater driver than gain) of great value.
2. Visualize that thought to a point where you know what you are wearing, what everything looks life etc..
3. Take it to the next level and start smelling what is around the room or place, is it cold. You actually will start to feel like you are there. Allowing any emotions to course through your body.
4. Initially instill with a current Emotional Trigger e.g. I used an exercise bike, a Cold Fan & a powerful song blasting in my ears.
5 Rince and Repeat when cravings or needs set on. In my experience this usually takes 1 – 3 week to instill completely until you subconsciously are set.
Simple as that. Do note though this is a very very powerful process. Don’t take it for granted. If done enough you truly can get in to the belief of the Visualization. So try not to let it bring up any feelings of Anger towards the person. Make sure it is directed at you being over weight or what that has caused you to lose if you don’t change.
I used this process for Smoking and It has been a month and I have not even had the slightest craving to smoke. It is actually really weird as it has seemed so hard in the past.
Ok So now would you like to know my Harajuku Moment?
One of my big goals in life is to be a father. It is something that I want and can’t wait to be a great dad to my kids. I feel blessed I have found someone I see myself having children with. I am blessed.
So the moment that forces me to change is the Visualization that I am in the doctors office with my partner and the doctor comes in to tell me that due to my weight I can not longer conceive Children. The only hope I have is to get down to my Goal weight. The sooner the better.
That is what is driving me. Do you think that is powerful? What can you tap in to to give you the drive to make a powerful change? This is more important than the diet so do not skip this step.
I was also going to talk more about accountability today but I think that can wait until tomorrow.
Have a great night Everyone.
