Can you lose Weight using a Self Hypnosis Technique?
The Short answer is Yes. Yes you can. Now it is not the only thing you can do but it is as vital as exercise and eating well.
To make a bit more sense think about general diets. They are in essence fighting against your body. Your body wants to eat something and you force it to eat something else. This is the same with exercise. Your body may not be ready to go to the gym 6 times per week but your force it. You use your conscious brain to override the natural wants and needs of the subconscious brain.
In Psycho Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz he puts it best with how we describes the Subconscious as a machine. It deals with your breathing, metabolism and everything in between. Anything that you would call instinct is your subconscious at work. It does not make decisions on its own but it does learn habits good or bad that it uses to in its opinion keep you safe.
Your conscious mind on the other hand is what directs the machine which is your Subconscious. The big problem comes in that you can not just direct the subconscious to lose weight, go to the gym and enjoy it or change habits in an instant. It takes time.
This is where Self Hypnosis and other Hypnosis Technique’s come in. They act as a bridge between the real world and your subconscious. Think if you could change the life long programming of over eating by talking to yourself through hypnosis. Its worth a go.
My Self Hypnosis Technique Experience
I first really started when I purchased The Gabriel Method as it comes with a self hypnosis CD that helps relax you and gets your mind to feel safe and allow your body to shed the weight. This is part of a technique that also involves increasing Minerals, Vitamins and Proteins in your diet. I listen to this Self Hypnosis Technique CD every night before I go to sleep for 12 minutes or so. It works very well in my experience and helps to keep motivation up and allows your body to start craving different foods.
Self Hypnosis Technique
I want to throw in a Free Self Hypnosis Technique that I used to use. It is very simple and below is the simple Self Hypnosis Script:-
1. Start by closing your eyes. Start to tell yourself that your eyes are locked closed and no matter how hard you try you can not open them. I use sayings like your eyes are getting sleepy and It feels like sand bags are on my eyelids and no matter how hard I try I can not open them. (I found a great video on this below.
2. Once you have mastered the above. Start to relax. Imagine a blue light shining and going through your body as it touches every part of your body (say them to your self in order) you relax more and more. Start with your forehead and go down to your toes.
3. You will now be relaxed. This is when you can start talking to your subconscious. The best way to do this is in Pictures. You need to be able to imagine your perfect body. It is hard at first but gets easier. Find pictures online to help with this. Imagine your calves, your stomach and arms etc.. Feel how great all these body parts feel.
4. Start to imagine yourself in this new body and doing things you normally do. It could be at the beach, in the shower, walking down the road, at work. Try and really get the feeling’s going through your body. This and the last step should be about 10 minutes. Really feel what you are doing.
5. I usually finish by telling my body that I am safe and it is ok to be thin. When ready I say “At the count of 3 I will wake up refreshed and relaxed.” I then count to 3 and can open my eyes again.
This is a very basic Self Hypnosis Technique but it really works. I have used it a lot before I went on to The Gabriel Method CD which is a bit more advanced.
By starting to make this a habit you can add other things in to this Self Hypnotic state e.g. telling yourself what to eat and not by using visual pictures. I suggest choosing a food you want to dislike then picking something you hate and merging them together.
